Barnegat Light NJ is a borough in Ocean County NJ. As of a 2018 census it has a population of approximately 588. Barnegat Light was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature in 1948. The origins of its name are Barnegat Bay and Barnegat Inlet, which were named by early Dutch settlers. The borough is located on the northern tip of Long Beach Island. It is bordered by Barnegat Bay to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Barnegat Inlet to the north and Loveladies to the south.
