About Barnegat NJ
Barnegat NJ is a Township in Ocean County NJ. As of a 2018 census it has a population of approximately 23,167. What is now Barnegat Township was originally incorporated as Union Township in 1846, and it didn’t officially become Barnegat Township until 1977. It gets its name from Barnegat Bay and Barnegat Inlet, which got their names from early Dutch settlers in 1614. Barnegat borders the Ocean County municipalities of Harvey Cedars, Lacey Township, Little Egg Harbor Township, Long Beach Township, Ocean Township and Stafford Township. It also borders the Burlington County townships of Bass River and Woodland.
