About Bay Head NJ

Bay Head, NJ is a borough in Ocean County. As of a 2010 census, its population is approximately 968 people. Bay Head was incorporated as a borough in 1886 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature, from portions of Brick Township. It was supposed to be named Bayhead after the Bayhead Land Company that developed the area in the 1870s. A railroad sign put up in the 1880s labeled the name as Bay Head and the name stuck. The name is also derived from its location at the “head” of Barnegat Bay. The borough is bordered by the Ocean County municipalities of Brick Township, Mantoloking, Point Pleasant, and Point Pleasant Beach.
