Ortley Beach NJ is a community in Ocean County. As of a 2010 census, its population was approximately 1,200 people. Ortley Beach is also known as Dover Beaches South. It is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place situated within Toms River. Ortley Beach is located on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. The United States Census Bureau split Toms River Township into 3 separate CDPs – Toms River on the mainland, Dover Beaches North, and Dover Beaches South on the peninsula.
